The County of Mendocino has a permitting process for commercial photography within the unincorporated area of County of Mendocino. All production activity that takes place on Mendocino County rights-of-way requires a film permit (Mendocino County Code, Chapter 6.06).
The County Department of Planning and Building will expedite permit processing with the receipt of an accurate and complete permit, a proper certificate of insurance, and the required fee.
You may submit the form and certificate of insurance by fax to Planning and Building Services (707) 463-5709 or make other arrangements by telephone at (707) 234-6650.
If you are unable to download the permit application, or would like the forms faxed to you, contact Planning and Building at (707) 234-6650, or by email at pbs@mendocinocounty.org.
Typical Insurance Requirements
Unless greater coverage is requested by the County at the time of permit processing, the applicant shall furnish to the County certificates of insurance with Automobile Liability/General Liability Endorsements evidencing at a minimum the following:
- Combined single limit bodily injury liability and property damage liability - $1,000,000 each occurrence; and
- Combined single limit vehicle bodily injury and property damage liability - $500,000 each occurrence.
These certificates shall provide coverage for the entire period of the permit, provide that the policy shall not be canceled without thirty (30) days prior written notice to the County, and name the County of Mendocino, its officer, agents, employees, and servants as certificate holder and additional insured.
