The County Clerk Division of the Assessor-Clerk-Recorder’s office is open to the public from 8:00am to 5:00pm. It performs a variety of mandated duties, including:

  • Issuing Marriage Licenses (Mendocino County residents Only)
  • Performing Civil Marriage Ceremonies
  • Issuing certified copies of Marriage, Birth and Death Records
  • Filing Fictitious Business Name Statements (FBNs)
  • Processing Notary Registrations and Bonds
  • Handling Environmental Documents
  • Filing of Conflict of Interest Statements for County Departments, Agencies, Boards and Commissions
  • Filing Oath of Office and Maintaining Roster of Public Officers
  • Registration of Private Professional Photocopiers, Process Servers & Unlawful Detainer Assistants

  • Appointments are required to acquire marriage licenses and to have a County Clerk perform a marriage ceremony

  • If sending documents to record via certified mail, use UPS or FEDEX, as they deliver directly to the Clerk-Recorder office
