Paying Your Child Support

What do I need to know about Wage Garnishments?
  • An Income Withholding Order (or Wage Garnishment) will be issued to your employer
  • It may take up to 45 days for your employer to start deducting child support payments
  • You are responsible to make all payments until your employer begins the deductions
    • Most parents make two monthly payments before automatic deduction kicks in
  • Missed payments result in an additional charge of 10% interest per year
  • Missed payments and balance owing may lead to automated enforcement actions, such as license suspension, bank levy, negative credit reporting, and a tax fund intercept
