An In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) provider is someone who gets paid by the State of California to provide eligible services to an IHSS recipient under the IHSS program. To become an IHSS provider you must first complete the steps outlined below. Once these steps are completed, you may be selected as a provider and receive payment from the IHSS program for providing services.

State laws require that all IHSS providers go through an enrollment process and pass a background check before they are eligible to be paid by the IHSS program. To enroll as an IHSS care provider, you must complete these steps:
Step 1: Begin the Online Enrollment Process
- Click on the Continue To Enrollment button.
- Watch the mandatory videos.
- Review and electronically sign the required documents.
- Schedule your In-Person Appointment to provide required identification.
Step 2: Attend your Scheduled In-Person Appointment
At your In-Person Appointment, you will:
- Report at your scheduled time for your In-Person Appointment.
- Provide current valid driver's license or another US government issued photo ID.
- Provide original Social Security Card (not a copy)
- Please note that names on ID & Social Security Card must match. If you cannot provide current ID & Social Security Card, or names do not match, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

Please note: The only person permitted into the In-Person Appointment will be the Enrolling Care Provider. Guests/family members will not be permitted entry, and the Enrolling Care Provider will be asked to reschedule.
Step 3: Complete and Pass your Background Check
Live Scan services are offered on-site at our Ukiah Office and can be completed at your scheduled In-Person Appointment.
Currently, our Willits and Fort Bragg Office do not offer Live Scan services on-site. For off-site Live Scan services:
- Print the Live Scan form and take it to a Live Scan Location
- Ensure that you contact the agency to confirm availability & pricing.
- Keep the completed copy of the Live Scan form and your receipt for your own records.
- Please keep in mind that the cost of fingerprinting is the Care Provider's responsibility.
After we receive notification that you have passed the Background Check, you will be eligible to provide services to an IHSS Recipient!
