Government Code Section 31010 allows the Board of Supervisors, by resolution, to establish a Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) for any unincorporated area in the County to advise the Board on matters of public health, safety, welfare, public works, and planning.

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors has established six MAC's within Mendocino County. The Board of Supervisors adopted Mendocino County Policy #51, on September 20, 2016.

The areas of responsibility for each MAC are shown on the map below:

The Gualala Municipal Advisory Council (GMAC) advises the Board of Supervisors on the following as they may affect the Gualala area:

• Current and long term planning and development projects including amendments to the General Plan and Local Coastal Program
• Those elements or topics of the General Plan and Local Coastal Plan including, but not limited to, land use, circulation, parking, housing, seismic safety, safety, noise, open space, conservation, and public access.

GMAC pays particular attention to issues concerning the completion or updating of the General Plan and Local Coastal Program.

The function of the Redwood Valley Municipal Advisory Council (RVMAC) is to act as an advisory group and the voice of Redwood Valley residents to the County of Mendocino Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and other agencies that take actions affecting the community.

RVMAC meets every second Wednesday of each month from 5pm to 7pm

The purpose of the Round Valley Area Municipal Advisory Council is to act as the liaison between the community and the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, and County and State agencies.
